ICICI vs HDFC

I want to start trading stocks and I'm looking for full service brokers, ICICI Direct vs HDFC Securities, which is better ? I don't have any experience with trading securities but I have been trading crypto currency (successfully) for about 6 months. Do both these banks offer 3in1 accounts ? which one is better. I would like to know about their trading platform and banks also. Please share your opinions and let me know if there is are better options available.
I also had some bad experience while trading forex, oprions and US CFDs with a popular foreign brokerage firm that turned out to be a bucket shop manipulating the trading platform and prices to make me lose money. So I don't care if I have to pay higher fees and charges but I want good reliable broker who offers good service and doesn't cheat - this is my first priority.

[AskIndia] Currency exchange to EUR - Help!

Hi,
I'm going to Italy later this month and I'm really confused about what I should do about currency. I'm from Bangalore and I've asked around. I get different opinions about exchanging.
Some people think I should find an exchange here in Bangalore which gives the best rate; others think that I should just use my debit card and some others think that I should get a forex card from my bank.
For anyone who's well versed with this, what's the best thing to do here? I'd really appreciate some advice.
UPDATE: I ended up getting an ICICI Bank Multi currency travel card because:
  1. ICICI Bank is my primary bank account and the process was quick.
  2. I didn't see significant differences in exchange/conversion rates across other banks.
  3. ICICI allows me to recharge my travel card through my iMobile app, even from abroad. This was a huge plus.
Additionally, I used bookmyforex.com to get some currency notes delivered to me. It was super convenient, so I highly recommend it to anyone else who's travelling.

Charges on an Indian debit card when swiped out of India

Friend will be flying out of India. He is using ICICI debit card. How much would be the transaction charges? ICICI says it will be 3.5% + 18% GST. This means if someone spends 100 USD, then he will need to shell out 21.5 USD additionally only as charges. That's crazy insane. Can someone confirm if it's true? He called up twice, the second time the lady told him that the 18% will be on 3.5% i.e. a total of 4.13% charge will be levied.
Also, why would GST be applied to a service/product that we are buying outside ambits of Indian government jurisdiction?
Edit: thank you everyone for your replies. It's at moments like these when I realise the good fortune of having forums and internet. Seeing your replies my friend escalated the issue on ICICI Twitter handle. They confirmed what you said. However he did go ahead and purchased a Forex card from Indusind

Cheapest way to get Euros for INR ?

For the last couple of trips to EU, I have been using ICICI to get EUR for INR, but I am wondering if anyone here has a better suggestion so that I can minimize the commission I pay them, and get the maximum out of my deal.
I read on internet that post offices, India Post, provide forex services without any commission at all, that sounds so good, but I couldn't find their current rate online.
Does anyone has any experience with India post, or any other better way to exchange currency.
